Get Raw Boost by Instinct for the Holiday Cheer!

I love the holiday time of year when friends and family get a together...my gang of five is very convivial and they love it when folks come to visit.  All of them vie for special attention, especially Mocha!  In order to make sure that my guests don't feed my begging kitties table food that might upset their digestive system, I decided to try out Raw Boost Mixers Instinct by Nature's Variety from chewy.com.  Raw Boost Mixers are really healthy and packed with protein that will ensure that your four-footed friends get plenty of healthy protein.

What is Raw?

Raw has real ingredients and is all natural, with vitamins and minerals derived from real natural foods.  There are no preservatives and nothing artificial.  Raw is never cooked because this company wants to preserve the integrity of the ingredients by never heating them or diminishing their nutrients.  Raw natural whole food without grain or gluten promotes maximum digestibility, the natural oils and omega fatty acids provide a healthy coat and skin, and the meat helps to maintain strong lean muscles.

What is Freeze Dried Raw?

Freeze-dried raw is 100% raw nutrition that sits safely on your pantry shelf. All the moisture is removed from the natural frozen recipes without heating or cooking, to lock in nutrition and taste. The ingredients are preserved by using cold pressure technology. Also known as high-pressure processing this method uses pressure instead of high heat in order to create an all-natural, safe, raw pet food that can be used as is.

About Raw Boost Mixers

Nature's Variety is a U.S. company based in Lincoln, Nebraska started to make small batches of pet food from real meats, whole fruits, and vegetables, coconut oil, apple cider vinegar and turmeric, to name a few ingredients in order to create a pet food that stimulates overall wellness, immune and digestive health, lean muscles and a healthy skin and coat.  All their raw pet food starts with pure animal protein, not peas or potatoes because they believe that animal protein provides all the essential amino acids that our pets need.  Raw Boosters is freeze-dried and made of real protein-packed chicken that is minimally processed.  There is no grain or gluten. They start with 12 ounces of real chicken and chicken liver plus whole vegetables and fruits and then freeze-dry these ingredients locking in the nutrients and flavor.

How to Use

The beauty of raw boost instinct is that it can be used in two different ways.  It can be used as a special healthy treat right out of the bag or it can be used as a topper on your pet's favorite wet or dry food.  I tend to use raw boost as a treat for my gang of five.  Instinct Rawboost Mixersby Nature's Variety has had rave reviews on the chewy.com website giving it 4.6 stars out of five with 79% of those reviewing this product giving it great reviews and 94% of those reviewing this food recommending it.

Music and Miko Cat Food 50% Off!

I love the quote by humanitarian and Noble Peace Prize winner, Albert Schweitzer, who said, "There are two means of refuge from the miseries of life: music and cats."  Thinking about that statement, I  think of the famous "cat music"!  Perhaps, one of the most famous is Edward Lear's verse, The Owl and the Pussy Cat, set to music by Stravinsky.   Rossini composed, "Duetto Buffo Dei Due Gatti" where two female singers vocalize solely on the word meow, and then, of course, Scarlatti's "Cat Fugue" that was inspired by his cat running over his piano keyboard.  And, let's not forget that modern classic, sung by Peggy Lee... The Siamese Cat Song!  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rlQYqQs0R3w.

As you can imagine, I decided to write this blog about Miko Cat Food that chewy.com sent me this month listening to music!  Miko Cat Food has been formulated to meet the nutritional levels established by AAFCO standards using real flaked fish or poultry that are packed in a delicious, savory consomme.  The texture is flaky and the consomme smells great with the added benefit of providing more liquid to your cat's diet.

All About the Goodness

I decided to ask for the Miko Poultry and Seafood Variety Pack that comes in a case of 12 three-ounce cans that includes two cans each of chicken, chicken & turkey, chicken & vegetable, mackerel & tuna, tilapia & tuna, and salmon.  The real good news is this item sells for $14.99 and is currently 50% off the first time you buy it with a limit of one case per customer.  If you put this item on auto ship, you will receive an additional 5% off.

Key Benefits

  • Each can is made from real chicken, turkey, or fish and provides your cat with the protein it needs to thrive.  Real protein is the #1 ingredient.
  • The consomme is a flavorful real broth that adds liquid to your cat's diet helping to provide healthy hydration for your cat.
  • Each can is packed with added vitamins, minerals, and taurine, an amino acid that is essential to feline heart and vision health.
  • This is a grain free product that never contains wheat, corn, soy or carrageenan.

Reviews

According to the chewy.com website, this product is in the top percentage with 81% of the customers that bought this product giving it a five-star rating.  Many people note that this food does contain a lot of consomme; others say that it has a good consomme - meat ratio, and, 81%  say that their cats love it.  Of some concern, it is noted that this product is made in Thailand.  On the other hand, research shows that Thailand has very strict standards for pet food, having been to Thailand many times, this was not a concern for me.  And, best of all, my cats, especially Sabu loved this food.  He actually prefers a food with a consomme broth.

Thanksgiving Treats and the Popularity of Cats!

We all know there are two kinds of people in the world... cat people and dog people, I love both, but admittedly, I am more of a cat person.  In the U.S. slightly more households own dogs than own cats according to the American Veterinary Medical Association, but in raw numbers, cats outnumber dogs to the tune of two million.  Euromonitor found that at a state level in the U.S. cats outnumber dogs in the Northeast and Upper Midwest and that dogs are a favorite in the South and Southwest.  Our state of Connecticut is a cat state with 1.25 cats per household for every dog.

It is hard to believe that Thanksgiving is around the corner... with that in mind, www.chewy.com sent me the perfect treat for my gang of five so they can celebrate the holiday too.  I couldn't wait to try the special Temptation's Holiday Dinner that comes in luscious Turkey and Sweet potato flavor.  The 16-ounce handy plastic container that keeps these treats fresh is only available for a limited time.  I like the fact that they come in a stay fresh pack and when I shake the container, my cats come running!

Key Benefits

The best thing is that these treats will keep you from feeding your furry friends things that might be too rich for their systems and cause digestive problems. To order click here.

  •  These colorful treats are festive and made with the irresistible flavor of turkey and sweet potatoes.
  • They have a crispy outer shell that helps keep your cat's teeth clean by preventing the build-up of tartar.
  • The soft meaty center is a special surprise these "Temptation" treats offered.
  • No worries about weight gain, these treats are less than two calories per treat (I wish a slice of pumpkin pie was too!!).
  • The resealable fresh pack keeps these treats fresh and the container can be re-used for other goodies.

Reviews

The Temptations Thanksgiving Treats scored high on the chewy.com website with 4.6 out of five stars!  The reviews all mention that even though cats can be finicky,  just about every cat from sweet rescues to breed all had one thing in common, they loved these holiday treats and from the look of things here, so do my gang of five!

Halloween Safety Tips for Cats

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays.  It is fun to see all the imaginative costumes people come up with... and then, of course, there is the candy.  For our pets, Halloween can be hazardous so it is important to keep the following tips in mind.

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays.  It is fun to see all the imaginative costumes people come up with... and then, of course, there is the candy.  For our pets, Halloween can be hazardous so it is important to keep the following tips in mind.

If you want your pet to wear a costume, choose it carefully and introduce it slowly. A simple accessory goes a long way!  I introduced Mocha's pumpkin costume slowly.  It attached loosely around his neck and chest and he would wear it for a few minuted every day.  The hat, he really never got used to, so I didn't push it.  The most important thing is to get your pet accustomed to wearing a costume well before Halloween.

So many candies that we hand out can be potentially life-threatening so keep it well out of the reach of your pet. Chocolate is especially toxic for dogs and cats.  The ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center has a Mobile App that could come in handy in case of an emergency.

For a Halloween treat for my cats I ordered some delicious Cat Man doo bonita tuna flakes from chewy.com  they love this all natural healthy nutritious treat!

Pretty Kitty Litter - It's Crystal Clear!

At first glance, kitty litter isn't something cat owners always put a lot of thought into, it sort of comes with the territory of owning an indoor cat.  There are a lot of types of litter on the market that range from clumping to non-clumping varieties. One thing I really don't like about my current litter is the dust, it is a real hassle to clean up and something I really never look forward to. I was excited to get a new type of cat litter to try out from chewy.com by Frisco simply called Crystal Cat Litter.

There are a lot of benefits to making the switch to this dust free, multi-cat, non-clumping cat litter.  The crystals are not only shiny and pretty to look at they are ultra absorbent. I used this litter in one of five litter boxes and, after two weeks the order control was also still working well. The way these crystals work is that each one has tiny pores that lock in liquids and orders which means that the litter box stays cleaner longer.  In addition to the summer clean smell, this non-clumping litter is that it is easy on your cat's paws and is low in dust making a real plus for me.  Another plus is that one bag will last on one box for up to a month and, provide round the clock odor protection.

According to chewy.com reviews, this litter scored high getting 4.7 stars out of 5. Most all pet parents that used this brand raved about how long it lasted and the odor control this product offers.  Of course, it was noted that there is a transition period when using switching litter but most cats loved it.

Curved Cat Scratcher - Making Waves!

This month chewy.com sent me a fabulously compact cat scratcher, OurPets The Wave Curved Cat Scratcher that is in the shape of a wave.  Cat scratching is natural and intuitive for cats for a couple of reasons.  Cats love to stretch and scratching is one way they flex their bodies.  Another reason cats scratch is to remove the dead layer outer layer of their claws.  And, of course, cat scratching is a way they mark their territory, both visually and by scent.  Cats have a scent marker in their paws that send messages to other cats.

I like scratching pads because it protects my furniture and my rugs. If I find my cats are scratching my rugs in a certain place, I put the cat scratcher in that location to protect the rug and, so far this has worked remarkably well.  I think that by putting the scratching pad where my cat is scratching my rug that I am redirecting his attention to the pad to reinforce that this is an acceptable object to scratch.

I find that my cats like a variety of scratchers from tall poles to pads on the floor.  It is important to provide cats with a variety of scratching options and to provide them with a reward for doing so.  This is where the catnip comes in!  This waved curved cat scratcher has lots of tight nooks and crannies on a strong corrugated surface making it a perfect place for everyday scratching.  And, as a super reward, OurPets The Wave Curved Cat Scratcher comes with a packet of North-American grown catnip that makes this scratching pad even more rewarding.

A final perk to this curved cat scratcher is that when one side wears out, you just turn it over for another dose of fun.  Chewy is offering this pad at a 20% discount; if your order exceeds $49, shipping is free and chewy.com has tons of products to choose from.  This scratching pad is also popular with chewy customers and gets 3.8 stars out of five.  Most reviewers liked the price and quality of the scratcher although some noted it was a bit small.  The size didn't seem to bother my two rather large Tonkinese who love it!

Pumpkin is always in Season!

One thing I have learned since blogging for chewy.com and amusing my cats in the meantime is that pumpkin is actually good for cats...and dogs as well!  There are a few reasons why pumpkin is good for our feline friends and for us as well!

Top Four Benefits of Pumpkin

Pumpkin is a great source of fiber for cats.  In addition, many vets recommend pumpkin as a remedy for constipation in feline patients.  Just a little pumpkin helps to keep cats "regular".

Pumpkin adds more "bulk" to the diet of a cat and is great for cats that are on a diet!  The way it works is that you replace a bit of pumpkin with a reduced amount of food and the pumpkin will keep your cat satisfied and feeling full.

Pumpkin is a good source of vitamin A and C which helps to support the vision and the immune system of a cat.

Pumpkin is high in zinc and can help improve a cat's skin and coat.

Solid Gold - Triple Layer Pate - Salmon and Pumpkin

I was really excited that chewy sent me the most beautiful looking catfood yet by Solid Gold.  This is a Triple Layer pate with salmon and pumpkin that has two luscious looking layers of mousse that are whipped - one salmon and the other pumpkin that sit on a layer of real salmon shreds.  There are so many key benefits to this food, the first being that my cats can get mousse and shreds all in one bite!  I like the fact that this food is made for cats at all stages of life, so I can feed it to my older cats as well as to my younger cats.  Chewy.com is selling this food at a 6% discount and if you put this on auto-ship you will get an additional 5% off!  The shipping is free for orders of over $49 and items come within two days.

Key Benefits of Solid Gold Triple Layer Cat Food

The recipe is holistic and is gluten-free.

Triple Layer Pate is made with real salmon that offers your cat the protein it needs and real pumpkin that will help your cats coat and digestive system.

There are no fillers like corn, wheat, soy or artificial colorings or preservatives.

It provides cats with variety, there is no need to buy a topper for cat food, as this one comes with one.

It comes with the right amount of pumpkin so you don't have to measure out pumpkin, it's all done for you and your feline friends.

Put the Wow in Meow with the New Fancy Feast Appetizers

This month chewy.com sent me a super treat for my gang of five... the Fancy Feast Appetizers that are a perfect topper making an ordinary Fancy Feast  Dinner into an extraordinary cat dining experience! Each little appetizer container has a different saying... "happiness is a clean dish", "like a hug from inside," and "tasty ways to wow your cat."

My favorite saying was "today just went from meow to wow"!!  And, my gang of five could not agree more!  They devoured this topper on their Fancy Feast Pate, Salmon. I was really impressed that this Fancy Feast Appetizer had a good portion (appetizer size) of light meat tuna and a good size scallop topper, all wrapped up in a savory broth.

Benefits of Fancy Feast Appetizers

  • This is a grain free gourmet recipe
  • This appetizer is made from high-quality proteins like skipjack tuna and scallops
  • The texture is flakey making it a perfect topping for a pate
  • It is an extra special treat between meals and puts the "wow in meow"!
  • This comes in a delicate fish broth that helps hydrate your cat
  • The appetizer comes in an easy to use peel and serve tray.
  • Best of all, my cats love it!

Star System

We all love to pamper our pets and this food is paw licking good!  Don't take just my word for it, according to www.chewy.com's customer reviews, this food got 5 out of 5 stars and is100% recommended!  One reviewer put it best... "Good snacks, happy cats!"  This food comes in a handy tray of 1.1 oz treats consisting of 10 packages.  If you order $49 or more from chewy.com the shipping is free and if you put items on auto ship you get a 5% discount!

Things to Keep in Mind When Choosing a Cat Food

My gang of five can sure be finicky when it comes to their cat food and water! This month chewy.com sent me Science Diet Cat Food, Adult Savory Variety Pack with chicken, liver and turkey pate to try and we just couldn't wait.  I find that from time to time my cats get tired of eating the same food so I am always on the lookout for a variety pack of several different types of high-quality food that has balanced nutrition that goes into every serving. Best of all chewy has discounted this food 13%!

Benefits of Science Diet Variety Pack

  • This wet food smells good and each recipe loaded with hearty vegetables.
  • The variety pack comes in three flavors, turkey, chicken and liver so your cat will never get bored!
  • The tender pate is made with real turkey and is in a savory sauce that will tempt the most finicky cat.
  • This balanced adult cat food is recommended for cats one - six or older. It is made to promote kidney health and has to ensure easy digestion.
  • This food also contains taurine to help maintain vision and heart function and it is free of artificial flavor and preservatives.
  • This food is made in the United States and every ingredient meets strict requirements for purity and nutrient standards that exceed industry standards.

The Star System @ chewy.com

I always read what other "pet" parents have to say about items offered by chewy.com.  The Savory Turkey Entree by Science Diet got a 4.3-star rating out of 5 stars and 67 reviews.  Several reviews noted this food was a nice soft pate and that Science Diet's quality is always consistent. A negative was that some people did not like the consistency of the pate, but my cats loved its pudding-like consistency.

Things to Keep In Mind When Choosing Pet Food

  • The age of your cat dictates the type of food they should be eating.  Generally speaking, you should feed your cat kitten food for the first year and adult cat food up to 7 and older cats should have senior food to reduce the risk of kidney issues, mobility problems and other health issues associated with age.
  • It is also good to consult with your vet for your cat's nutritional needs. Some cats like my Himalayans need food to keep their coats healthy and to help with hairball control. Some cats prefer a pate (like Max) because it is a softer food that helps with dental issues and other cats need a food with fewer calories for weight control.
  • Always start to serve a new cat food in small quantities in a clean dish to get your cat use to this change in diet.

A real perk of being a chewy customer is that items qualify for free shipping with orders of $49 or more and are delivered to your doorstep within two days.  If you subscribe to automatic shipment you save an additional 5%!

The Importance of Vet Visits @ a "new" Chewy.com Goody Box

Ok let's face it, who likes to go to the doctor, I think most of us dread the annual visit, especially when you are feeling ok.  At least we understand the importance of an annual check-up, unfortunately, our feline friends don't understand how important their vet visit is to their overall health.

The first step is tricking my cats into the cat carrier with treats.  I always try to bring the two Tonkinese together and the three Himalayans together for "cat moral support" and fewer trips to the vet for me! There are many reasons why it is important to visit the vet once a year, here are three of the most important reasons.

1. Puts your mind at ease
We all know cats are stoic and it is not easy to detect a medical problem.  Cats age more rapidly than people, so a once a year annual visit to a vet is like seeing your doctor every four years.  Cats over ten sometimes see the vet twice a year because things can develop rather quickly.  It helps to see the vet once a year so you don't have to worry about your cat's health and if there is a problem, hopefully, you have caught it in time and with the help of your vet, a plan can be put in place.

2. Importance of Vet Records
Taking your cat to the vet once a year allows your vet to compare the vital signs of your cat - such as his or her weight, vital signs, and blood work in order to determine what if anything is changing. This is really important in determining developing conditions and possible future treatments.  If your vet sees your cat is gaining weight, for example, a food plan can be put together to deal with obesity and prevent diabetes.

3. Relationships and Prevention
If you bring your cats to your vet annually, you will inevitably develop a relationship with your vet, who will see you as a trustworthy animal guardian.  An annual visit may stave off a serious illness. In the long run, annual visits are much less expensive than treatment for a cat that rarely went to the vet.  If something goes wrong with your cat, you have a relationship with your vet and plenty of backup records that will see you and your cat through any difficult times or serious illnesses.

I believe in rewarding good behavior and was really excited when www.chewy.com sent me their "new" Grain Free Goody Box that was the perfect treat for the gang of five stoically letting the vet poke and prod them!  Thankfully are all in purrfect health, even Max who will be eleven this month!

Contents of the Grain Free Goody Box

The gang of five are excited about this Grain-Free Goody Box that was chock full of food, treats, toppers, and toys.  This box is the perfect option to try the food, treats, and toys that you have always wondered about.

Blue Buffalo Wilderness Chicken and Duck Recipe Treats.  These soft, moist meat rich treats are perfect on their own or to add as a fancy topper to wet or dry food. They are loaded with real chicken and duck meat and have no by-product meals. I like the fact that the duck makes these treats a little different giving my cat's refined diet with some variety.

Purina Muse Natural Tuna and Tilapia Recipe in Broth.  They gobbled up this tasty food that is made with large chunks of hand filleted fish that is topped with baby clams - it looked and smelled so good and disappeared in an instant!  I guess this food is on my must-have list.

Vital Essentials Salmon Freeze Dried Treats.  Freeze drying in the pet industry is all the rage because it locks in all those vital nutrients.  These treats are made from one single food source, Wild Alaskan Salmon.  These are perfect toppers for wet food to add a little variety to their diet and to stimulate their senses.

Solid Gold- Tropical Blendz Salmon Pate.  This is one that I would not have thought to try, but I am really glad that I did because this super soft holistic grain and gluten free pate was a real hit.  The salmon and coconut oil are loaded with healthy fatty acids that are good for their coats.

Caru Beef Bone Broth.  The Tonks, especially Sabu loves all wet food that has a broth, the more broth the faster he licks it up. Cats need hydration and broth added to wet food is a win-win in this case and I can't wait to try it plain as well as added to Sabu's favorite wet food for an extra special treat.  The broth is made with 100% human grade ingredients and is grain and gluten free.

Toys.  I suppose it wouldn't be a "goody" box if there weren't any toys included in the mix!  There are two toys the 24 "Karat" toy that is in the shape of a carrot replete with a feathered top and, of course, filled with catnip.  They loved it!  The other toy (already missing probably under a piece of furniture) is the Fat Cat EEKS! Catnip Toy.  This cute little mouse is stuffed with organic catnip and is the perfect size to bat around...which all of them did endlessly...now, all I have to do is find it!

The Grain-free Goody Box is available at chewy.com and is $19.95.

Royal Canin Purrfect food for Himalayans!

A Himalayan Cat is a crossbreed between Persian and Siamese cats; in Europe, it is considered a variety of the Persian cat with "points" and in the U.S. it is considered a breed.  One outstanding characteristic of these gorgeous cats is their long, thick shiny coats.  The hair is long all over their body and includes a ruff about the neck and a deep frill between the front legs, plus long ear and toe tuffs in additional to a full bush tail.  One of the most important things to understand about caring for a Himalayan is the need for grooming. The long beautiful coat doesn't stay clean and tangle-free on its own!  Their coats should be gently combed at least three times a week.

There are two basic reasons for grooming, the first is to avoid allowing knots to form, Himalayan fur is fine and knots have a tendency to form on the stomach and between their front legs.  The second reason is to minimize the intake of hair as Himmies love to lick themselves and preen. Grooming helps to avoid hairballs.  One food I do use to help my cats in regard to hairballs is Royal Canin Hairball Dry Cat food that chewy.com sent me this month to try.

Key Benefits

Because my Himmies spend a large portion of their day grooming (and sleeping) they tend to swallow large quantities of hair, even though I groom them. I was excited when chewy.com sent me the Hair Ball formula by Royal Canin to try.  My cats love the Persian Royal Canin formula as well and have eaten it for years.  Best of all chewy.com is selling this cat food at a 19% discount, put it on autoship and save another 5 %! Thank-you chewy.com!

Hairball Care is a special nutritional formula that naturally helps reduce hairball formation in adult cats including neutered cats.

The nutritional formula is composed of a specific blend of dietary fibers including psyllium seed husk and insoluble fibers to help naturally stimulate intestinal transit. As a consequence, hair swallowed daily can be eliminated in the stools rather than building up in the stomach and being regurgitated.

The formula is also rich in mucilage and encourages the daily elimination of hair in order to prevent hair buildup that results in hairballs.

The formula is also nutritionally balanced and provides a balanced diet that meets all of my cats' needs.

The size of my Himalayan's mouth is rather small and the size of this kibble is easy for them to chew. In addition, the shape of the kibble and texture promotes a brushing effect helping to reduce the formation of plaque on their teeth.

Ratings

Looking at chewy.com's website, Hair Ball Care Cat food got 4.7 stars out of  5 stars by reviews.  Most everyone reviewing this food noted that their cats loved the food (all mine do, even the Tonks) and, all noted a reduction in hairballs with use.  The only negative was that with the formula change the calorie count increased a bit.  As for my gang of five, they love it and I am hoping for a reduction in hairballs with use of this food.

About Himalayans

In the 1930s breeders started to selectively create a Persian cat with the pointed pattern of a Siamese cat and by the 1950s the Himalayan was accepted for recognition. Himmies  The Himalayan or Himmie as they are affectionately called is a sweet docile cat that can exhibit kitten like bursts of speed and playfulness.  My three Himalayans can be sleeping on their favorite chair in the sun when all of a sudden one of them explodes into motion by running around the room and rolling around on the carpet, with the Tonkinese close behind.  All in all, my Himmies are friendly with everyone, even strangers, with Zivah being the most curious out of the three and Max the friendliest.

Tiki Time - A Luau for Cats!

Tiki, the very word conjures up  Luaus and  Hula dancers along with other romantic images of the South Pacific Islands.  A Luau is a traditional Hawaiian feast called an ahaaina meaning a gathering meal where delicious Poi, a pounded taro root that acts like the Hawaiian baked potato, and Kalua pig that is prepared in an imu, or underground oven is served amid many other delicacies.

According to their website, Tiki Cat was the first true gourmet cat food to hit the market that featured whole human grade shredded or sliced meat and chunks of seafood. When I got the new specialty box of Tiki Cat Aloha Friends Variety Pack  from chewy.com I immediately decided it was high time for a kitty luau of sorts!  My cats, especially Sabu really enjoys Tiki Cat food that is distributed out of Charleston, Illinois.  Tiki products are made in Thailand with dedicated human grade canning lines so I have no problem serving this to my cats, and they love it!

About Tiki Cat Food

Tiki specializes in making high-quality wet cat food that provides moisture that helps cats digest meat or fish while maintaining a healthy kidney, digestive and urinary tract, and, a healthy liver. Most cats don't drink enough water so feeding them Tiki wet food helps them remain hydrated which is especially important during the hot months of summer.

All my furry felines said "Aloha" with enthusiasm to the fabulous Variety Pack by Tiki that comes in a box of 12 easy to use and dispose of  3 oz pouches.  The flavors include three packs each of  Tuna with Shrimp and Pala'ai, Hawaain for pumpkin, Tuna with Calamari and Pumpkin, Tuna with Ocean Whitefish and Pumpkin and Tuna with Tilapia and Pumpkin.  The food pours out of the pouches easily and consists of big chunks of fish swimming in broth, and it actually smells good.  I was impressed that I could see whole salad size shrimp and rings of calamari!

Key Benefits

These packets will provide your cat with a healthy and delicious "Luau" of Flavor!  This product is grain free and is made with wild caught dolphin (not Flipper) safe flaked tuna, tilapia, shrimp, ocean whitefish and pumpkin that is simmered in a rich and tasty broth. Each packet contains a dash of sunflower oil that is rich in omegas and good for the skin and coat as well as pumpkin that adds a boost of fiber and antioxidants to promote healthy digestion.

This food is made with real broth and provides cats with moisture which is essential to hydration; and is loaded with essential vitamins, minerals, omegas, and taurine and contains zero grains, gluten or GMOs. This food is also low in carbs with less than 2%.

Another plus is that this is a variety pack that offers different flavors for picky eaters, not that I would know anything about that!

Customer Reviews

People consistently give this catfood high ratings. On the chewy.com website, 56% out of 147 reviewers give this pet food five stars.  Most reviewers have cats that love the product and think it is a high quality cat food at a great price.

One sticking point was those customers that preferred the canned version of Tiki Food as opposed to the pouch; personally, I like the pouch.  Many customers loved this food because it is grain free and because it looks like real food.  The only other problem was that some cats did not like the chunky texture, so keep that in mind when you purchase this product.
