I and Love and You! Happy Memorial Day!

There aren't really enough words to pay tribute to the men and women that serve our country in the military. This Memorial Day many of us will show our gratitude in many different ways from parades and picnics to attending a memorial service, hanging flags,  paying our respects @ 3 pm on the 30th during the National Moment of Remembrance, and visiting memorials.

After our remembrance moment, one way that we will be celebrating is by trying a new cat food sent to us by chewy.com made by I and Love And You.  We received the Variety Pack Wholly Cow that contains twelve cans of three different types of food- Purrky Turkey, Beef, Right Meow and Savory Salmon...and, it was LOVE @ first bite!

Healthy Highlights

I and Love and You began as a small pet food store in Boulder Colorado creating raw food for pets knowing that pet parents everywhere wanted better food with real meat and real ingredients for their pawsome friends.  They remain an independent pet food manufacturer that wants our pets to have happier, healthier lives, and, they are just living up to their name, "I and love and you"...it's not crazy its just love! Here are the benefits...

  • This pate style food is grain free and carrageenan free.  Carrageenan is sourced from seaweed and is very controversial pet food additive used to thicken many pet foods.  Animal studies have shown it causes gastrointestinal inflammation and can trigger an immune response in the body that leads to inflammation.
  • The first ingredient in I Love and You wet cat food is real protein - an ingredient that cats thrive on and need.
  • There are no fillers like wheat or corn, there is zero gluten, no artificial colors and better yet, no by-product meals.
  • This food is loaded with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants as well as  Omega 3 and  Omega 6  that help maintain a shiny coat and is beneficial for bones and joints.

It's Just Yummy!

I and Love and You Variety Pack Wholly Cow is made for cats of all ages which is good for my multi-cat household that has cats that range from nine to two.  I am not the only one to give this food high marks, on the chewy.com website this food is 100% recommended, and to me, that and the way my gang of five gobble it up says it all.

Chicken Soup for the Soul- 101 Cat Tales!

If you are looking for some light summer beach reading get a copy of Chicken Soup for the Soul...My Very Good, Very Bad Cat by Amy Newmark with a forward by Robin Ganzert, the President, and CEO of the American Humane Association.  I got my copy from www.chewy.com who is selling it at a 16% discount making their price for this book lower than the online price for Barnes and Noble.  Combine the cost of this book with your other pet needs and get free shipping on orders that are $49 or more.  Best of all, your purchase will help the great work of the American Humane Association.

This book is the perfect way to celebrate the special bond that we share with our pawsome feline friends because it tells so many tales of how cats have changed peoples lives.  There are 101 amazing short stories about the antics and adventures of interesting felines from across the country.  The book is divided into ten sections that range from My Ornery Cat to My Healer Cat.  I enjoyed reading it in bits and pieces skipping from section to section according to my mood...and, the antics of my gang of five!  Some stories are humorous, others are amazing... and most will make you laugh or even bring a tear to your eye.  There are also heartwarming tales of cat courage, healing, and learning.

In the introduction, Robin Ganzert correctly points out that although cats seem independent,  cats are actually dependant on us humans for their needs including food, shelter, water and medical treatment and for our companionship.  The reward, of course, is the unconditional love that our furry friends give us.

Each chapter begins with a photo of an adorable cat that was rescued from the street or from a shelter. Every story begins with interesting fun facts such as, "Did you know that cats can make more than a hundred different sounds; and that dogs can only make about ten sounds?    Or, that most cats like their food at room temperature and won't eat it if it is too hot or too cold?."

Hilarious stories include Phantom and the Thanksgiving Turkey and Uther Pendragon, the klepto cat, the terror of the neighborhood!   The section called My Therapist Cat will prove that somehow our feline friends know just what we need, sometimes even before we do.  In the section called My Heroic Cat,  you will read about Spencer, who helped a recovering drug addict and Tiger that foiled a break-in. One of my favorites is found in My Nanny Cat that tells the story of Elvis the Cat... get the book to see why!
